Obligatory CNY Entry

Chinese New Year this year has been a little quiet. Well it’s just the first day so I may be saying this a little early. Anyway, I’ll be having a Chinese New Year party on the third day (Tuesday) and I’ll need to go shopping tomorrow to buy some stuff for the barbeque.

Last year’s party was fun. It was basically a gambling and drinking session but this year, I’m throwing in the BBQ as well. The usual suspects will be here (at least they said they are coming), i.e. Ken, Huei, Lola, Mel, Wern Shen, Eddy and the rest.

This time, we won’t be having chicken wings and the “hard to cook” stuff because we always over buy! We’ll be having the easy to cook stuff like sausages and burger patties. hehe

Anyway, I need to turn in now. Gong Xi Fa Cai you guys!

It’s Another Year

Since I have a little time on my hands right now, I might as well blog a bit.

I just got my invoice for this blog’s annual renewal fee. I am happy with the web hosting provider so far and I guess I’ll just continue with them.

The most read and most commented entry on my blog is this post I wrote a while back. It’s a mini guide in renewing your Malaysian passport. The Malaysian Immigration departments website didn’t really provide a lot of details on that and with the help of Google, this entry shot up to first spot on Google if you search for “renew Malaysia passport”.

I’ll try my best to update that entry so that it can benefit more people.

Got to go catch some shut eye. Talk to you guys later.

One Year Older, One Year Wiser

I’m waiting for something here in the office so I can’t go home. Might as well wipe the dust off my blog. :)

Two weekends ago was my 26th birthday and I spent it in the office. It was month end and I have datelines to adhere to. Not that I’m complaining though. Anyway, on my birthday, I had dinner at Pasta Zanmai with my designer and writer. So I did have a birthday dinner. :)

Two weeks before my birthday, Ken, Mel, Lola, Eddy and wife, Chee Minh, Wern Shen, Mei Leng, Chien Yi, and all the other “gang members” celebrated my birthday in Ken’s house. They bought a Manchester United Home Jersey for me as well. THANKS GUYS AND GALS!

I bought a Microsoft Xbox 360 for myself as a birthday present as well! Not only did I buy the Xbox 360, I got Guitar Hero 5 and Guitar Hero World Tour set too! I brought it to Ken’s house that night and it was a party pooper. :) We drank less but played more.

Eileen got me a Gucci wallet and I’m using it now, since my old one is torn into pieces despite being used for less than a year and from the stables of a VERY high end brand.

The only picture I have in my office PC.

Mum gave me an angpow for my birthday. Yay. Pocket money! She got me a green tea cake as well.

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes!

Celebrations (Pics added)

The end of last week was a tiring one.  I went to PC Fair 2009 with Cheah early in the morning (ok, we got there at 11am, still early for me) for our PC Fair coverage.  We do that every PC Fair, just to check out what’s on offer and at the same time meet our advertisers.  Right after the PC Fair, we went to a Sony event and thank god the event was at the same building!

Saturday was even more tiring.  I woke up just before lunch, then went to Carrefour to get some barbecue stuff.  Some of the media and PR people came over to my house to celebrate three things, i.e. Eddy’s belated birthday, Mei Leng’s birthday and my graduation.

It was a raining the whole night! We had to use umbrellas over the barbecue pit so that the food stays dry and making sure that the charcoal remained hot! I’m glad to report that we finished all alcohol that was available! 2 cartons of beer, 1 bottle of Absolut Pear, 1 bottle of Green Label and a bottle of white wine, all gone! The food, however, was in excess.  We bought too much meat! We had at least 10 packs of sausages, 5 packs of burger patties, 30 chicken wings and plenty of kebab! I had to force them to take some home! I guess I’ll be eating leftover BBQ food for a while! We had PLENTY of ice too! At least 10 packs! 7-Elevens must be wondering where their ice went!

We adjourned to my place at about 11pm because the security guards were making noise, saying that we were too loud.  We played some drinking games, then one by one they fell, like dominos.  Eddy and Mrs Eddy left earlier because Mrs Eddy had some things to do next morning.  I’m not too sure if Eddy could wake up in time for that as he was swimming in the Green Label earlier.

Mei Leng fell, followed by Lola and Zhien.  Then Jason fell.  Wern Shen demonstrated his shotgun skills at the balcony with Ken, Mel and me as witness.  Then there were some leg pulling *winks at Wern Shen* and Zhien was awake together with Jason.  We were then talking at the balcony and I sneakily recorded everything! HAHAHAHAHA!

They left at about 5am.  I cleaned the house a bit and went to bed.  The next day, I woke up at 4pm, just in time for early dinner! The whole of Sunday, or the remaining of it, was spent chilling and sleeping at home.

My timezone is screwed yet again! I need to adjust it back soon!

BEWARE! 78 (low res) pictures ahead! It will kill your bandwidth, even with TMNUT’s SCREAMYX!

My Graduation

Well, I’ve finally got my Masters in Busines Administration degree.  These are some of the photos I took at the graduation ceremony.  I didn’t take a lot because the stupid gown was so hot and I was wearing a coat.  Didn’t feel like taking any pictures.

This is Lisa from Lisalicious, where I commented some very long comments on her MBA topics and stuff like that.

And she says she’s not pretty.  Girls, I tell you, are never satisfied with how they look! LoL!

My parents!

My girlfriend!

Me and my cert and my Mak Dau! My girlfriend got the Mak Dau for me because she said it looks like me!

Me on stage taking my certificate from the chancellor

I was surprised that there were media seats allocated at the ceremony.  I even saw a few of the photographers that I see at events.  Then I found out that the Minister of Tourism Malaysia was one of the Honorary Graduates and she was voted out of the UMNO Supreme Council thingy the day before.  No wonder there were so many journalists and photographers.

The photographers even followed her out of the hall and journalists trying to ask her questions.

Both times I graduated, there are big shots at my graduation.  In England, when I got my Computer Science degree, Pierluigi Collina, the best referee in the world, was conferred an honorary doctorate degree as well.  He was like a celebrity in the football crazy country, in a small tiny town called Hull! This time, it’s some Malaysian Minister.

Can’t I get a “quieter” graduation? Maybe on my DBA? Who knows?
