Congrats To Frederick And Wai Pooi

I just came back from Frederick and Wai Pooi’s wedding dinner. It was really nice catching up with the ex-colleagues. Anyway, if I’m still blogging, that means I’l still sober…Right? :) As usual, I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

Me and the groom. Frederick was my senior in Country Heights and Wai Pooi was from another department in Country Heights.

Ex-colleagues catching up. (From L-R) Tammy, Sophia and Bong. Beh at the bottom. Sorry for cutting your head into half. :)

The ex Country Height-ians. More than half of us are ex Country Height-ians. Hehe

The bride and the groom. Frederick and Wai Pooi.

The customary “yum seng”. I think I screamed “yum seng” too much. I’ll most probably be without my voice when I wake up tomorrow.

Another group photo. Me with Raymond the magician and Bong. Sitting down (From L-R), Vincent and wife, Tammy.

Ok. I need to pen off (or keyboards off, whichever you prefer) right now to catch some shut eye. I have a magazine to wrap.

Once again, congratulations to Frederick and Wai Pooi. You guys are the perfect couple. :)

I Love My Netbook

I recently blogged that my netbook is very slow and it might need a reformat to clean everything up and start brand new. I did something better.

I had an influx of SSD drives for review recently.

Picture proof.

So I’ve decided to install one of it into the netbook. The Kingston drive is a review unit but it’s also the highest end and most expensive one. I will have to give it back eventually.

The Intel SSD (X25-M) has the highest capacity (160GB) and it’s currently in my netbook. They’ll take it back but I hope not so soon.

ADATA sent me their SSD from Taiwan for a review. Review done. Don’t think they’ll take it back. Will most probably be using this in the office.

I’ve installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my netbook as well. It boots up in about 25 seconds and everything is so snappy!

Yeah, this is a filler post. :)

Treasure Hunt – What Happened

Last week I blogged about participating in a treasure hunt, saying that me, Ken and Huei will win because we’re the “dream team”. We did win! I’ll let the pictures do the talking and I’ll explain it in the captions.

My team mates, Ken and Huei. This was before the hunt. They were reading the guide to solve the clues.

My car. We had Acer and Microsoft Windows 7 pasted all over the car. We brought our own stickers as well. I had two CHIP stickers printed and stuck them on the windscreen. Huei brought a whole bunch of Lowyat.net stickers and we pasted it everywhere. Ken brought a single STUFF sticker so to make it symmetrical, we pasted it right in the middle of the windscreen.

Closer look at our stickers.

“Slim & Sleek On Board”. Huei is slim and sleek. Not me and Ken. :)

The back of the car.

Huei and Ken still reading the guide to solving the clues.

The agenda. 6 hours to Port Dickson!

Our room at the Thistle Hotel, Port Dickson.

The toilet of our room.

The side sofa thingy. THere is a word for it but I can’t remember what it’s called.

The view of our room.

Well, we won second prize with 72 points. The first prize winner, Kevin, Kuan Lim and Nick from HWM, pipped us by one point! Alas, they were the better team.

The prizes were an Acer Revo, a 23 inch Acer monitor. Each of us also got RM150 Jaya Jusco vouchers and a night stay at the Thistle Resort in Port Dickson. We’re planning to sell the Revo and the monitor to split the money. So if any of you guys want a HTPC, let me know.

That’s about it. I’ll be busy until the end of the month so it’ll be a little quiet here. Not that it’s not quiet enough already. :)

Treasure Hunt

I’ll be going for a charity treasure hunt organized by Acer over the weekend. The hunt will start from USJ all the way to Port DIckson (ok lah, not really “all the way”). Participant’s fee is set at RM50 and I have Ken and Huei in my team.

Ken and Huei was the champion of the last major treasure hunt, the Samsung Innov8 Run, and I recently won third place at the Maxis treasure hunt around the Bukit Bintang area. You can call us the dream team if you want. :)

Today, at the DiGi Turbo 3G event, I won the first prize for an SMS contest (A HP iPAQ Data Messenger) and Ken won second prize (A Nokia XpressMusic 5800). Huei won third prize at the Creative event (A HD REcorder of some sort). This is a sign I tell you. A FREAKING SIGN!

With a team like this, how can we not win? MUAHAHAHAHA!!!

I’ll be driving my mum’s car as my car is not serviced yet. We’ll have the assistance of my Garmin Nuvi 200W GPS as well! Each of us will be bringing our laptops. I have Maxis’ Unlimited 3G on my iPhone, P1W1GGY, a 150MB Maxis SIM 3G SIM card, a Maxis HSPA dongle with Maxis Unlimited 3GB broadband and today and a 6 months free unlimited 3G that DiGi gave me today for my DiGi line. Pairing the connectivity options with our laptops, we’ll have internet on the go! Google will be our best friend! I’ll also be bringing a portable charger so our phones won’t go out of juice.

The only thing we don’t have is a name for our team. Ideas?

P.S. Wern Shen will be a live mannequin in Tangs, Pavillion, tomorrow and he’ll be up against three famous bloggers. I’ll try to drop Pavillion tomorrow, with a chilled beer in hand to tempt him. Heh.

Nothing Much

Wow. It’s been nearly a month since I last wrote in this space.

Nothing much happened anyway. My brother came back, left, came back and again and went back, work is routine, attending events and stuff. So, yeah.

I’ve been thinking of replacing the ASUS EeePC 701 by selling it and replace it with my BenQ Joybook Lite, then get an Acer Timeline (any model) for work. The BenQ has served me well but it’s throwing it’s tantrum more often these days.

Maybe it just needs a HDD format, or even better, an SSD upgrade (I have plenty of those lying in the office). If I do that, I’ll install Windows 7 Ultimate on it (legal version, got it from the Windows 7 launch).

The Timeline will solve the hassle. :)

Let’s see how it goes.
