News flash! This Just In…

First Overseas Trip As Editor

I still remember my first “over-the-sea” trip when I joined the industry. You can read more about it here. Since then, I’ve been travelling a lot on official assignments but it is only to Singapore, Langkawi, and the furthest of all, Taipei for Computex.

My first overseas (for real this time) trip as the Editor of the magazine will on September 2009 (technically 11.55pm 31st August 2009) and this time, the place I’m going to is a little further.

How little is “a little” you asked? 14 hours and 20 minutes away, two flights. That’s about 3 times more than my Taipei trips. Yeah. I’m going to Europe, specifically Stuttgart, Germany! WOOHOO!! I’ll be flying MAS to Amsterdam and then board a connecting flight to Stuttgart.

I’ve never been to Germany as it was a little far from England, where I studied. I went to Netherlands, France and Italy but not Germany.

I’m attending Nokia World 2009, courtesy of Nokia Malaysia, and to make the flight more enjoyable, Nokia is flying six of us from various publications on BUSINESS CLASS (if I read the itenerary correctly) on a Boeing 777. It’s not the old type of business class where you get beter food and slightly larger seats, it’s this type:

Complete with those funky lie flat seats!

I think I’m gonna enjoy the flight more than anyone else. Unlike most people, I enjoy flying. I love to fly. I didn’t complain a bit during my 14 hour flight to Manchester. I made used of every single thing on the plane and this time, you bet I’ll be doing the same!

Too bad I don’t really have time to go around Stuttgart as the only free time I have is the first day, where jet lags and settling in takes place. The congress is on the second and third day while I’ll be flying back to KLIA on the fourth day in the afternonn.

Well, I’ll be DAMN busy in September since it’s Hari Raya month and the printer closes for one week, which means the magazine has to be wrapped one week earlier.

I can’t wait for Merdeka to come!
