This is going to be a very brief update. I have some photos but I left the camera in the office. I’ll upload them later.
Chinese New Year has ended for me. Usually my Chinese New Year ends at the 8th day, where I pray to the “tee gong” (Direct translation: Sky Gods). It was yesterday, coincided with Valentines Day.
It was the 8th Valentines for Eileen and I and we just had a simple dinner with her friends at Manhatten Fish Market in Sunway Pyramid. The prices was exorbitant, just because it’s Valentines Day and they changed the name to some lovey dovey name. There were only 5 items on the menu, four of it were single sets and the last one was a couple set. We had the couple set for RM59++. The single sets were RM49++, a total rip off. It’s the usual fish ‘n’ chips that cost about RM20++ on normal days. They jacked the prices up to more than double! The only difference between the Valentines Menu and the normal menu was the name, and they added dessert. That’s it!
I never really do much for Valentines day because everywhere you go is expensive and you’ll have to fight for a table. Eileen doesn’t think the same way I do. LOL. So I have it her way and celebrated with her. That’s the secret of a nearly 10 years of relationship, tolerance. Last year we went to Victoria Station, the whole place was practically modified for Valentines. They have plenty of tables for 2 instead of the usual big tables and their menu was very simple, not to mention expensive. Food was bland and tasteless, it’s not even hot!
Anyway, after dinner, I took Eileen home, bought her a stalk of plush rose. I like the fact that these roses never dies, it’s cute and it cost as much as a stalk of rose. Only RM9.95.
I went back to my grandmother’s house. They were waiting for me to setup the table, tying the bamboos with some paper offerings to the Gods, the firecrackers and fireworks. I do that every year, it’s like tradition. I need to pass this responsibility to my cousins. I’m too old for that.
At 12am, we prayed, burnt “Yuan Bao” and then the most exciting part, lighting up the fireworks. I lit up the red crackers first. After it finished, I lit the fireworks. Got an SMS from xiao-ahmei, saying “Thousand ringgit fireworks just like that only ar?”. She stays near my grandmother’s house, about 20 seconds away. It was beautiful lah, what you expect? You think my grandmother house is like KLCC meh? My uncle got the fireworks for free anyway. hehe
Anyway, I’ll be busy tomorrow. Meeting Nicole for dim sum breakfast, then to Raymond’s house for a small gathering cum CNY visitations with my ex-colleagues. After that I’ll be meeting Ken, Andrew and Koon for CNY dinner, then clubbing at Scarlet with Yat Yat. It’s his birthday tomorrow.
Till my next entry, bye bye!
P.S. Happy belated Valentines day for all couples out there and Happy S.A.D. (Singles Appreciation Day) to all the singles out there. Next year will be different for you guys and gals!
