Busy and Exams

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

I wanted to take some pictures for this entry but i left my the CF card for my DSLR in the office and my trusty Olympus mju400 went out of juice.  So I’ll do that some other time.

Anyway, last week was a very busy week for me in the office.  Late nights every day until yesterday.  Ken and xiao-ahmei, the saviour of our magazine worked even later.  We will be wrapping the magazine tomorrow and I will be going to the office tomorrow after my class.  Ken said need the “togetherness” worr…

My classes will be getting more and more hectic as there are plenty of replacement/extra classes for us.  A lot of unexpected stuff happened for this semester and plenty of classes were canceled, hence the replacement.  I will be having my exams on 4th and 11th February.  And I have no less than 1500 pages to read.  Both subjects will be tested based on the whole text books.

I’ve never had exams on the whole text books before.  The ones I had was maybe half the text book, or just a quarter of the text book and some extra notes.

This semester is different as well because it will be externally moderated, which means there are no tips for the exams.

We’ll see how it goes.

P.S. I failed my first assignment (Strategic Management).  Passing rate was 10 marks out of 20.  I got 9.6 out of 20.  I really need the second assignment and my exams to pull my marks.

Wish me luck!

Following MacWorld 2008 right now!

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

Just a short update.  I am following the MacWorld 2008 live right now via a few online blogs.

I will blog about it tomorrow, when I have the time.  I will be going to interview Fujitsu’s Chief Designer, a Japanese dude, with Ken tomorrow.  Ken will be doing all the talking, me, taking photos.

I will also blog something that I encountered just now at the petrol station about some super arrogant rich kid tomorrow.

That’s about it.

Update for xiao-ahmei!

So I got a comment in my previous entry from xiao-ahmei, asking me to update anything.  Here you go.

Updates

I can’t really think of a title for my entries anymore. I have problems writing a title for my articles in the magazine too. Ken does all the dirty work.

Anyway, I am kinda busy with my assignments and work. Mostly assignments as it is due next Monday. After this assignment will be my exams for the first semester of year 2. I don’t know how is it going to turn up but I really hope I can just pass it.

Work is a bit slow these weeks. Not many events to attend. I am attending one event tomorrow at KL Sentral (the first event for this month!). Usually we do not have to attend events like this but this month is reaaaaaaly quiet. If I don’t attend as much as I could, I might not have news to write for this month. In my line of work, no news is bad news!

Fortunately, there is the CES in Las Vegas. No, I didn’t get to go to Las Vegas to cover it but I’ll be “covering” it anyway in the magazine. There is also the Macworld coming up next week. It might be quiet locally but internationally, it’s wild!

I’ve also been thinking of learning up a new skill (secret). A skill that I hope I will be able to master in less than 2 years time. I don’t know if I have the time for it. I’ll need to find a tutor as well but it’s not too hard.

I think that’s about it! Be happy guys (and gals)!

P.S. The Samsung SGH F330 that I won was finally delivered to me yesterday! Look at the phones I have now!

Top Row : Samsung SGH-D880 (review unit), Motorola V3i (bought), LG KG276 (Viewty event door gift), Nokia E51 (review unit), HTC P3400 (review unit)

Bottom Row: Samsung SGH F330 (won), Apple iPhone 8GB (bought), Nokia 6500 Classic (won), Sony Ericsson M600i (bro gave it to me).

Not in picture: Sony Ericsson W810i (loaned it to Yat Yat, bro gave it to me), Sony Ericsson K750i (bought, gave it to mum), Sony Ericsson W850i (bought, gave it to Eileen)

I might sell my Motorola V3i and LG KG276. Eileen will be taking the Samsung SGH F330 so I might sell her Sony Ericsson W850i as well. The Sony Ericsson M600i is a good phone but it’s got some minor defects. I might want to sell the 2 phones my brother gave me but I need his approval first.

Congrats!

I just came back from attending Alan and May’s wedding dinner and it is one of the best and coziest wedding dinner I’ve attended (not that I attended a lot of wedding dinners).Oh yeah, before I forget, Congratulations to Alan and May. May you guys be happy forever and ever and ever and ever…(I think that’s enough “evers” )

I reached the hotel quite early as I went there directly after my classes. In fact, I was one of the first there. had a few drinks and more people came. I met a lot of my ex-colleagues as well. It’s nice to see them again.

The reason why I said it’s one of the best is because it wasn’t a very structured wedding. Everyone was having fun. Alan went up stage, sang and played the guitar to his bride (I’ve never attended a wedding where the groom sings), instead of some old aunty or uncle singing some hokkien songs with the karaoke machine with their “super-out-of-tune-vocals”. Alan and his friends then entertained the guests with their singings and guitar prowess.

May’s cousins gave a few VERY GOOD renditions of love songs for the newly weds. It was really nice. The bride and groom invited everyone to dance while their cousins sing. It’s a very casual wedding dinner.

Anyway, here are the pictures I took at the wedding.

That’s all the pictures I have.

I will be attending quite a number of weddings this year as a lot of my friends are getting married. In fact, I will be the best man for Wei Yih during his wedding at the end of the year!

I can foresee my “2008 at a glance” entry at the end of the year to be like xiao-ahmei’s year review. Look at the amount of wedding dinners she attended!

I’d just like to wish the newly weds for having a happy life for the rest of their lives. Congratulations!
