Yeah, I know in my previous entry I said the trip was cancelled, but I never said I am not going to drive down south! It was a last minute decision.
Eileen and I drove down south to Singapore on 23rd December, it was a 4 hours journey, a bit tiring, but I’m fine with it.
Reached Singapore at about 9pm, went through immigration an customs, spent numerous calls and roaming charges calling Wei Yih to get to his place. Got to his place at about 11pm, we went to his place and have a look-around. After that, we went to a few hotels as I didn’t book a place for the night because I was supposed to arrive on 24th December.
So we went hotel room shopping in the middle of the night. We went to a few hotels but all were fully booked. We settled for Hotel 81 near Wei Yih’s house and we went for supper.
The next day, we went for brakfast, then to Wei Yih’s church, The Corner Stone. I am not a Christian myself but I must admit that I really liked their optimistic thinkings. They see death as a way to get closer to God. I admire that. After the preaches, we went for a drink just next to the church with some of Wei Yih’s church-mates. Nice bunch of people. One of them even gave me and Eileen a ginger bread man and a, eermm……ginger bread woman.
It started to rain, but no big deal, I have my car! So we went to checkin to my room at Lion City Hotel, also very near to Wei Yih’s place. We drove to Vivo City AKA Mid Valley of Singapore. The crowd was unbelievable there. There were so many people there that I hardly see shops, only heads.

We had lunch/dinner in Vivo City’s food court. It has a very nice old chinese style setting. The food was not too bad as well. After that, we went to Orchard road for the Christmas celebrations. It was a nightmare.

There were so many people that we could hardly breathe. People were quarreling and fighting, Cloud’s mobile phone was either stolen or she dropped it as her ourse is still in the bag. Overall, Christmas in Singapore is nothing more like New Year’s Eve in Malaysia, only with a bit more light decorations. We went back to the hotel, had some rest and went for supper.
On Christmas day, we went to Bugis junction and later to the Esplanade, Merlion and the National Library of Singapore (yes, I do go to libraries, but just on the outside, taking pictures).

We started our journey back to Kuala Lumpur at about 5pm, detoured to Malacca for dinner, the infamous “Satay Celup” and we reached Kuala Lumpur at about 10.30pm.
I would like to thank Wei Yih and his girlfriend, Cloud, for the hospitality while we were in Singapore. Thank you!
A little update on what I intended to do from my last post:
- Get an iPod Shuffle. It’s cheaper in Singapore than in Malaysia; I got my iPod Shuffle for SGD$138.

- Go to the Merlion, and mimic its water spraying mouth; Been there, done that.

- Buy 4D, 7388, SGD5 big, SCG10 small; Didn’t do that, because Wei Yih doesn’t know where to buy 4Ds!
- And some boring sightseeing stuff; Done that.
A little trivia about me and Wei Yih:
- I’ve known him since we were 10, that’s more than 13 years, we are childhood friends, as quoted by Wei Yih
- I’ve known Cloud before Cloud and Wei Yih know each other. She was my classmate in Form 1 and according to her, I sat beside her, although I have no memory of that
- Wei Yih and Cloud knows each other longer than Eileen and I.
- Eileen and I are couples longer than them!
- If I am not wrong, I influenced him to study in Chong Hwa Independant High School after we graduated from primary school. He wanted to go to Catholic High School. I dropped out 2 years later and he continued on, and met Cloud.
- I know who his first love is!
